Warren police logs: Man charged after altercation at home

Tuesday, Feb. 13

A caller told police that it appeared that an elderly woman was having trouble crossing Metacom Avenue at Homestead. Police gave the woman assistance; she was just walking slowly, they noted.

A caller told police that a person struck two parked cars while attempting to parallel park on Main Street, then took off. Police said there was no damage to the two parked cars in question.

A caller complained that a construction crew on Market Street was blowing sawdust on to the street. Police noted the crew would clean up the mess.

Wednesday, Feb. 14

Tevin R. Jones, 23, of 241 Market St., third floor, was charged with domestic simple assault/battery, domestic vandalism/malicious injury to property, and domestic disorderly conduct, after his girlfriend called police to report that he had hit her.

A Metacom Avenue man called police, concerned that he hadn’t heard from his girlfriend in 24 hours. Police contacted the woman, who told them she was fine, but just didn’t want to talk to him.

An Arlington Avenue resident called police after seeing what she thought was two men attempting to pick a door lock. It turned out to be the property owner, who was fixing a damaged door.

A caller reported finding a used syringe along Metacom Avenue.

Whitney B. Joseph, 22, of Providence, was charged with driving after the denial, suspension or revocation of her license, third or subsequent offense, after police pulled her over on Water Street.

Thursday, Feb. 15

A man called police after a female friend texted him and asked where he could buy a gun. Police spoke with the woman’s mother, who told them her daughter told her it was all a joke.

A Munro Avenue woman told police that her daughter was receiving harassing text messages.

Friday, Feb. 16

A Main Street woman called police after someone knocked on her door at 12:29 a.m. She wasn’t expecting company, she said.

A man went to police headquarters to report that his ex-wife was sending him harassing text messages. As he spoke to officers, the ex arrived and “started to argue” with the man.

A Warren Avenue woman complained that a juvenile hopped her fence and walked through her yard.

A Union Street woman spotted a banded pigeon in her yard, but could not capture it.

A caller reported a person texting while driving on Metacom Avenue.

Saturday, Feb. 17

Shannon L. Staton, 29, of Newport, was charged with driving after the denial, suspension or revocation of her license, after police pulled her over on Child Street.

A caller from Summit Drive complained that her sister had her car keys and would not return them. Police learned that there was a mutual agreement in place that the car’s owner would not get her keys back until an interlock device was installed to prevent drinking and driving.

Sunday, Feb. 18

A Wheaton Street woman complained that her son was being harassed via social media.

Monday, Feb. 19

A Gregg Drive man reported receiving harassing text messages.

A caller reported a man and woman panhandling on Church Street.
