Warren police logs: Officers respond to spate of domestic violence calls

Monday, Aug. 6
Fire crews responded to Main and Dyer streets at 7:40 a.m. for a gas leak caused by construction.
A Child Street man called police to report that someone had used his credit card without his authorization.
A bicycle was reported stolen from Vernon Street.
Several callers reported seeing dogs running loose at the Warren Town Beach.
A resident who found a bag on the bike path flagged down an officer, who was able to track down the owner.
Wayne Williams, 25, of Pawtucket, was pulled over at Market Street just before 4:30 p.m. and ahargedwith driving without or on an expired license.
An anonymous caller told police that his friend might be preparing to driving while intoxicated.
A caller from Davis Street said he could hear people possibly trying to break into an apartment next door.
Tuesday, Aug. 7
Robert S. Perry
, 56, of Portsmouth, was arrested on a Middletown warrant after off-duty Middletown officer spotted him walking down Franklin Street.
A caller complained about a dog at the Warren Town Beach.
A caller from Vernon Street complained about having an issue with a fellow tenant.
A Main Street resident filed a vandalism complaint.
A caller reported an animal cleanliness complaint on Harris Avenue. The animal control officer reported finding no odor.
A Metacom Avenue resident called police after receiving threatening text messages.
A caller told police he saw people swimming at the Warren Town Beach, which had been ordered closed by the state Department of Health.
A caller reported a possible drunk driver heading south on Metacom Avenue just before 7 p.m.
A woman reported being harassed at her workplace on Child Street.
Bruce W. Blais, 40, of 373 Child St., first floor, was picked up on a warrant at 8:23 p.m.
William D. Leahy, 57, of 29 Laurel Lane, was charged with domestic simple assault/battery and domestic disorderly conduct, after his wife told police that he had hit her.
Wednesday, Aug. 8
A caller reported people in a truck acting suspiciously on Waterview Lane. Turns out they were making a delivery for an electrical company.
A caller complained about a woman going through trash cans on King Street. Police determined she had permission from neighbors.
Police were called to Water Street to keep peace between a resident and landlord.
April D. Andrade, 46, of 22 Sowamsett Ave., Apt. 205, was charged with domestic simple assault/battery, domestic malicious injury to property, domestic disorderly conduct, and on a bench warrant issued by Sixth Division District Court, after a caller told police that he’d just gotten into an argument with his girlfriend.
Thursday, Aug. 9
The animal control officer was able to free a wild animal that had become trapped on Ridgeway Drive. No word on the species.
A caller found a hypodermic needle on Market Street.
A Kickemuit Village resident reported receiving harassing text messages.
A Davis Street told police an unwanted woman was knocking on her door.
Police contacted the owner of a wallet found on Warren Boulevard.
Cody J. Thomas, 21, of Bristol, was charged with driving after the denial, suspension or revocation of his license, after police pulled him over on Main Street just after 6 p.m.
An anonymous caller asked that police disperse a woman from a Davis Street address.
Sean Krisbert, 19, of 460 Water St., was charged with disorderly conduct and resisting arrest after police were called to Water Street just before 10 p.m. for a disturbance.
Friday, Aug. 10
A caller reported a man yelling and running up and down Child Street. Turns out he was looking for his dog.
Someone vandalized a mailbox on Denver Avenue.
An injured duck reported on Water Street at 11:13 a.m. took flight when officers approached.
A coyote was spotted Hanley Lane just after 1:30 p.m.
Barbara J. Uhrig, 67, of 291 Main St., Apt. 1, was charged with driving after the denial, suspension or revocation of her license.
A Stuart Street man complained at 5:12 p.m. about loud music coming from a neighbor’s property.
A Metacom Avenue woman called police after noticing fraudulent charges on her credit card account.
Officers helped a Mason Street resident get a bat that was in the home, out of the house.
Saturday, Aug. 11
A girl
, 17, was charged with domestic disorderly conduct, after a caller from Vernon Street told officers that his girlfriend damaged his property while they were having an argument.
Corey D. Rogers, 31, of Bristol, was charged with domestic refusal to relinquish a telephone and domestic disorderly conduct, after police were called to Child Street at 3:37 a.m. by a third party who reported that he was waved down by a woman who asked that he call police for help.
An injured hawk found on Commercial Way was taken to a wildlife rehabilitation expert in North Kingstown.
A safe was reported stolen from a Main Street home.
A Child Street caller reported being harassed by her son’s ex-girlfriend.
A boy, 17, was charged with misdemeanor receiving stolen goods, after workers at a group home on Main Street asked an officer to respond after they found items that had been stolen from a safe earlier in the day.
Sunday, Aug. 12
Stephen C. Cusumano
, 25, of Coventry, was charged with driving under the influence of liquor or drugs, first offense, BAC .15 or greater, after police pulled him over at Metacom Avenue and Fatima Drive just before 3 a.m.
A caller reported someone sleeping on the side of Metacom Avenue. It turned out to be a man suffering from an asthma attack.
Police contacted DCYF after the mother of a young girl called police to express her concern about a flea infestation in the father’s house and it’s impact on the child.
EMTs transported a woman reported drunk on Main Street to the hospital. The call came in just before 5:30 p.m.
Police got a call about a drunk woman walking along Arlington Avenue at 6:34 p.m.
Monday, Aug. 13
A Market Street caller complained at 2:38 a.m. about loud pedestrians outside her home.
A propane tank was stolen from a Company Street address.
A woman turned in a wallet she’d found while walking her dogs on Serpentine Road. Police contacted the owner, who picked it up.
A Seymour Street man reported being attacked by a neighbor’s dog.
A bike was reported stolen from Market Street.
A caller from Hezekiah Drive told police she put out two bags of clothing for Big Sisters, but they were taken by an unknown party.
A caller complained about a branch in the middle of Broad Street, and a second caller told police that he’d moved it out of the lane of travel.
A panhandler was reported on Main Street just before 11 p.m.
A driver struck a pothole on Metacom Avenue, and called police to tell him that his car would not shift into gear as a result.
