Warren police logs: Year's first arrest is a DUI

A woman driving on Market Street stopped and called police after another driver stopped his car in front of her, got out of his car and attempted to confront her in a case of road rage.
Police spoke to a man after a caller complained that he was selling jewelry on the sidewalk.
A resident reported receiving text messages from a person who had a no contact order.
A Vernon Street resident reported hearing the sound of possible gunshots. Police checked it out and determined that it was probably fireworks.
A Child Street woman complained about a neighbor’s loud music. A few minutes later, a similar complaint came in from Davis Street.
Tuesday, Jan. 1
Someone slashed the tires of a car parked on Brady Street.
A caller reported spotting a pig standing in the middle of Barton Avenue.
Fire crews were called out to a Main Street address for a fire call. It turned out to be a cooking mishap.
A Schoolhouse Road resident reported finding fraudulent charges on his credit card.
Wednesday, Jan. 2
Shannon C. Raposa
, 26, of East Providence, was charged with driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol, first offense, and refusal to submit to a chemical test, after police pulled her over at Kickemuit Road and Everett Street at 1:27 a.m.
Two juveniles, 16, were charged with possession of one ounce or less or marijuana. The arrests came after police investigated a car parked at the end of Bay Road on Sunday, Dec. 30. Police said police recovered marijuana after searching the car, which was occupied by several juveniles.
A Cole Street resident reported receiving threatening or disturbing phone messages.
A Main Street woman reported to police that medication was stolen from her home.
Thursday, Jan. 3
A caller from Main Street told police that her girlfriend had previously abused her.
The animal control officer received a complaint about a man allegedly striking a dog with a whip on the East Bay Bike Path. Police said the complaint was unfounded.
A Warren Avenue woman complained that her ex had just violated a no contact order.
Friday, Jan. 4
A Libby Lane resident reported receiving a threatening letter.
Joao C. Depina, 46, of 124 Child St., third floor, was charged with driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol, first offense, and refusal to submit to a chemical test, after police pulled him over on Child Street at 5:02 p.m.
Jasey L. Goff, 37, of 60 Water St., was charged with domestic simple assault and domestic disorderly conduct, after police were called by a woman who reported that her son had assaulted her.
A caller reported an erratic or aggressive driver on Market Street. Minutes later, police pulled over Lisa M. Shelhart, 48, of Bristol, on Main Street, charging her with driving under the influence of liquor or drugs, first offense, BAC .15 or greater.
Saturday, Jan. 5
James M. Medeiros
, 36, of Bristol, was charged with violating a no contact order after police got a call about a disturbance on Child Street.
Fire crews extinguished a fire in a Main Street home, after a caller reported at 9:38 a.m. that there was smoke in the basement. The fire was extinguished by 9:48 a.m.
A Main Street man complained that someone stole the seat and tires off his bike.
Sunday, Jan. 6
A resident called police after apparently falling victim to a “phishing” scheme.
A caller from Sachem Street reported that a house had been struck by birdshot from nearby hunters. Police determined there was no damage.
A Sisson Street woman complained about the upstairs neighbor’s loud music.
Police cleared away a Christmas tree that had been dumped or fallen off a vehicle in the middle of Market Street.
