A small group of Barrington High School students are about to go primetime.

Rhode Island PBS will begin broadcasting episodes of High School Quiz Show: Rhode Island this weekend, with a show that features six students from Barrington High School.

Daniel Sheinberg, Michael Lamontagne, Christina Curran, Clara Kugler, Brendan Fay and Jonny Zhang earned an invitation to the televised competition during a qualifying quiz last fall. The Eagles — they are coached by Bob Marley and Sam Schachter — squared off against students from Exeter-West Greenwich in the quarterfinals.

Starting on Saturday, March 31, PBS will air the eight teams of Rhode Island’s best and brightest compete head to head. Winners from games 1 and 2 will face each other in a semifinals match on April 28, and winners of games 3 and 4 play each other on May 5. The championship match airs on RI PBS on May 12.

John O'Hurley, the actor who played J. Peterman on the Seinfeld television series, served as host to High School Quiz Show: Rhode Island.

The tournament is single elimination and features four rounds of competition — toss-up round, head-to-head round, category round, and the lightning round. Other teams to qualify for the quarterfinals include Lincoln High School, Classical, Bishop Hendricken, Lincoln School, Mt. St. Charles, and LaSalle Academy.
