The Westport golf team tied for second place in the annual Mayflower Athletic Conference tournament at Acushnet River Valley on Thursday. The four person team shot a 340 to tie with Bristol Plymouth for second place. Upper Cape won the tournament with a low score of 308.

“It was a great way to close out the regular season,” said head coach Matt Kampper.

Westport senior Cooper Spirlet and junior Owen Boudria both shot 80 to tie for the fifth lowest rounds of the day. Eighth grader Abby Forbes posted an 86 and freshman Liam McMahan shot a 94.

The Wildcats were also awarded the league sportsmanship award and will play in the state golf tournament for the second year in a row. The Wildcats top six golfers will compete in the 18 hole stroke play tournament at Wianno Golf Club on Oct. 23.
