Westport police logs: Car theft reported

Monday, Sept. 4

Police responded to Main Road at 2:16 a.m. for an animal complaint.

A similar call came in from Drift Road just after 8 a.m.

A 911 caller reported an accident on Route 195 at 9:02 a.m. Others were reported on Route 88 at 12:18 p.m. and on Atlantic Avenue at 3:55 p.m.

A 911 caller reported a disturbance on Lenok Avenue at 8:05 p.m.

A caller from State Road reported vandalism at 9:16 p.m.

A caller reported a suspicious vehicle on State Road at 11:07 p.m.

Police pulled over seven vehicles and issued two citations over the course of the day.

Tuesday, Sept. 5

911 callers reported accidents on State Road at 5:50 a.m. and 12:22 p.m.

A caller from Drift Road lodged an animal complaint at 12:13 p.m.

A Hix Bridge Road resident complained of threats at 2:11 p.m.

A caller reported a suspicious person on Old County and Pine Hillroads at 7:24 p.m.

A caller reported a suspicious vehicle on Milk Avenue at 9:28 p.m.

Police pulled over two vehicles, issuing one citation over the course of the day.

Wednesday, Sept. 6

A caller from Beechwood Drive filed an animal complaint at 6:24 a.m. A similar call came in from American Legion Highway at 7:43 p.m.

A caller reported a disturbance on State Road at 12:22 p.m.

A 911 caller from President Street reported a neighbor dispute at 1:38 p.m.

A caller reported an accident on State Road just after 2:30 p.m.

A 911 caller reported a suspicious person on Old County Road at 5:22 p.m.

A caller from State Road reported suspicious activity at 9:10 p.m.

Police pulled over six vehicles and issued three citations over the course of the day.

Thursday, Sept. 7

A caller from Meadowbrook Lane complained of a suspicious person at 9:27 a.m.

A 911 caller reported an accident with injuries on Horseneck Road at 6:36 p.m.

A caller from Rose Avenue reported suspicious activity at 8:21 p.m.

A caller from Reed Road reported a suspicious person at 11:47 a.m.

Police pulled over four vehicles, issuing one citation over the course of the day.

Friday, Sept. 8

A 911 caller from Main Road lodged an animal complaint at 12:58 p.m.

Police pulled over four vehicles, citing two drivers throughout the course of the day.

Saturday, Sept. 9

A caller from State Road reported a suspicious person just after 3 a.m.

A Red Cedar Way caller reported larceny, forgery or fraud at 9:51 a.m. A Main Road resident filed a similar complaint at 5:04 p.m.

Police pulled over one vehicle, issuing no citations on the day.

Sunday, Sept. 10

Police were called to keep the peace on Division Road at 9:37 a.m.

A 911 caller from President Street reported a neighbor dispute at 10:10 a.m. A similar call came in from Charlotte White Road at 1:59 p.m.

A 911 caller reported an accident with injuries on Route 88 at 2:46 p.m.

An Osborn Street resident reported identity fraud at 4:08 p.m.

A caller from Main Road reported shoplifting at 8:09 p.m.

A 911 caller reported a disturbance on Briggs Road at 9:40 p.m.

Police reported no car stops, and no citations issued, over the course of the day.

A lifelong Portsmouth resident, Jim graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1982 and earned a journalism degree from the University of Rhode Island in 1986. He's worked two different stints at East Bay Newspapers, for a total of 18 years with the company so far. When not running all over town bringing you the news from Portsmouth, Jim listens to lots and lots and lots of music, watches obscure silent films from the '20s and usually has three books going at once. He also loves to cook crazy New Orleans dishes for his wife of 25 years, Michelle, and their two sons, Jake and Max.
