Westport police logs: Several disturbances reported

Tuesday, June 6

Stephen Bried, 37, of 104 Tyndall Ave., Colorado Springs, Co., was charged with operating under the influence of liquor after police pulled him over at Old Bedford and Sanford roads at 3:17 a.m.

A 911 caller reported an accident on Hix Bridge Road at  11:36 a.m. Another was called in from State Road and Route 88 at 6:03 p.m.

A caller reported a motor vehicle violation on Horseneck Road at 12:50 p.m.

A Bayberry Drive resident complained of identity fraud at 1:29 p.m.

A caller reported a car fire on Route 195 at 5:22 p.m.

A 911 caller reported an accident at State Road and Route 88 at 6:03 p.m.

A caller from State Road reported suspicious activity at 11:21 p.m.

Police pulled over four vehicles and issued three citations throughout the course of the day.

Wednesday, June 7

Jerilyn L. Swainamer, 40, of 1880 Meridian St., Fall River, was charged with assault with a dangerous weapon, disturbing the peace and disorderly conduct after police responded to a disturbance at Sanford and State roads at 11:27 a.m.

A Tickle Road resident lodged animal complaints at 12:38 p.m.

A 911 caller reported a disturbance on State Road at 5:54 p.m.

A 911 caller reported an accident with injuries at State and Forge roads at 7:47 p.m.

A caller reported a disabled car on State Road at 10:23 p.m., but police deemed it unfounded.

A caller reported a suspicious car on Miss Rachel trail at 10:37 p.m.

Police pulled over seven vehicles and issued four citations throughout the course of the day.

Thursday, June 8

A caller reported an accident on State Road at 6:21 a.m.

A Highland Avenue resident complained of identity fraud at 9:12 a.m.

A State Road resident reported larceny, forgery or fraud at 11:46 a.m.

Police tried but were unable to serve a restraining order on American Legion Highway at 2:56 p.m. They tried again at 4:51 p.m., again with no luck.

A caller from Watuppa Road reported a suspicious vehicle at 5:57 p.m.

A 911 caller reported a disturbance on Sodom Road at 10:20 p.m.

Police pulled over 11 vehicles and issued seven citations throughout the course of the day.

Friday, June 9

Brandon Ribbing, 31, of 672 Fisher Road, Dartmouth, was charged with operating under the influence of liquor and negligent operation of a motor vehicle, after police pulled him over on State Road at 12:31 a.m.

A caller reported a suspicious car on Route 88, by State Road, at 7:19 a.m. Police deemed the call unfounded.

A Union Avenue resident filed animal complaints at 10:11 a.m.

A State Road resident complained of property damage just before noon.

A caller reported a motor vehicle violation on Green Street at 1:54 p.m.

Police tried but were unable to serve a restraining order on American Legion Highway at 3:20 p.m. They tried again at 5:55 p.m., with no luck.

A caller from Howland Drive reported larceny, forgery or fraud at 4:53 p.m.

A caller from Conserve Avenue reported the violation of a restraining order just after 5 p.m.

A 911 caller reported an accident with injuries on State Road at 7:16 p.m. Another accident was called in from Route 88 at 9:03 p.m.

Police pulled over four vehicles and issued two citations throughout the course of the day.

Saturday, June 10

A caller reported an accident on Tickle Road at 9:25 a.m.

A caller reported suspicious activity on Sodom Road at 10:46 a.m.

Police assisted a disabled motorist on Route 88 at 10:47 a.m. They went on a similar call to Main Road 20 minutes later.

A State Road resident lodged a noise complaint at 1:11 p.m.

Police tried but were unable to serve a restraining order on American Legion Highway at 4:55 p.m.

An American Legion Highway resident filed animal complaints just after 5:30 p.m.

A 911 caller reported an accident on Old Harbor Road at 10:26 p.m.

Police pulled over two vehicles but issued no citations throughout the course of the day.

Sunday, June 11

A caller from William Street reported a suspicious vehicle at 1:50 a.m. Police deemed the call unfounded.

A caller reported an accident on Drift Road at 1:53 a.m. Another was called in from Ivy Meadows Lane at 1:01 p.m.

Police were called to keep the peace on Briggs Road at 11:18 a.m.

Police served a restraining order on American Legion Highway at 11:43 a.m.

A caller from Old County Road reported property damage at 12:05 p.m.

A caller from Beach Avenue reported a motor vehicle violation at 1:51 p.m.

A 911 caller reported a disturbance on Senechal Drive at 1:59 p.m.

A noise complaint came in from Cherry and Webb Lane at 10:28 p.m.

Police pulled over one vehicle and issued no citations throughout the course of the day.

A lifelong Portsmouth resident, Jim graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1982 and earned a journalism degree from the University of Rhode Island in 1986. He's worked two different stints at East Bay Newspapers, for a total of 18 years with the company so far. When not running all over town bringing you the news from Portsmouth, Jim listens to lots and lots and lots of music, watches obscure silent films from the '20s and usually has three books going at once.
