PORTSMOUTH — A 57-year-old Portsmouth woman was arrested Monday night after a man was found dead of a gunshot wound in her apartment.

Lisa Almeida-Laureanno, of 3028 East Main Road, was charged with domestic murder following the incident.

Portsmouth Police responded to her home on Monday at 7:17 p.m. to investigate a report of a male who had been shot with a firearm.

Inside an apartment at this address, officers located the shooting victim, a 69-year-old Portsmouth man.

Police said Ms. Almeida-Laureanno was on the scene and was placed under arrest for domestic murder.

"The homicide remains under investigation by the Portsmouth Police Department, the Attorney General’s Office, and the State Medical Examiner," said Deputy Police Chief Brian Peters in a prepared statement. "The name of the victim is being withheld at this time pending notification of family."

Police Chief Thomas Lee is expected to brief the news media with any additional information Tuesday at 10 a.m. at the Portsmouth Police Department. There will be no further information released until that time.
