A Swansea woman out for a walk was injured when she was struck by a runaway hay trailer Tuesday afternoon around 2:30 p.m.
Deputy Warren Police Chief Joseph Loiselle said a farm tractor was hauling a trailer loaded with hay south on Long Lane when the trailer broke free and veered into the northbound lane, pinning a 47-year-old Swansea woman against a stone wall. The woman had been walking south on the east side of Long Lane and did not see the trailer coming toward her until it was too late, Deputy Chief Loiselle said. She was transported to Rhode Island Hospital with a possible hip injury, and the accident is under investigation.
