Irene A. Riley, 92, Tiverton

Irene A. (Lassonde) Riley, 92, of Tiverton, passed away peacefully on Sunday, Oct. 2, 2016 surrounded by her family. She was the wife of the late Robert F. Riley.

Mrs. Riley was born in Fall River, daughter of the late Napolean and Mary B. (Potter) Lassonde, and had resided in Tiverton since 1949. Holding a very special place in her heart were all children and animals which she loved and adored.  She was very involved with the R.I. Special Olympics with her niece Lisa, with whom she loved to spend time. Later in her life she became an active member of the Massachusetts Senior Action Council, Inc. to champion a better world to live in.

Survivors include her three daughters, Joyce Prezalar of Middletown, Judi Riley and her companion Jesse Fernandes of S. Dartmouth, Janet Riley and her husband Jim Kennedy of Fall River; her sister, Gladys Lagasse of Tiverton.  “Nana” to her eight grandchildren: Marc, Jeff, Meredith, Adrianne, Steven, Colleen, Sean, Casaundra and 15 great grandchildren. “Auntie Irene” to numerous nieces and nephews.

She was the sister of the late Doris Choquette and Evelyn Lyden.

Private arrangements are under the direction of the Potter Funeral Home, 81 Reed Rd., Westport, MA 02790.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 480 Pleasant St., Watertown, MA 02472 or to the VFW Post 5392-Scholarship Fund, 134 Shove St., Tiverton, RI 02878.
