Run/walk for the Westport Fair 5K and Kids’ Fun Run is Sunday

WESTPORT, MA — Runners are invited to the second annual Run for the Fair 5K and Kids’ Fun Run set for this Sunday morning, July 10, at the Westport Fair Grounds, 200 Pine Hill Road, Westport.

All proceeds from the race go to the Westport Fair Scholarship Fund.

The Kids’ Fun Run will begin at 9 a.m. followed by the 5K Walk/Run beginning at 10 a.m.

All participants receive the following: 

• T-shirt (guaranteed if registered before June 16) 

• Admission for one to the Westport Fair (July 13-17) 

• Goodie Bag 

Race Course: Starting at the Westport Fair Grounds (north parking lot), Pine Hill Road Runners can sign up at www.westportfair.com through Saturday afternoon or in person on race day.

Entrants who use promo code JULY4 get $4 off the registration fee.

“Throughout the years, the Westport Fair has given back to the community by issuing scholarships to local high school students towards their continuing education. As we continue that tradition, we hope to continue to raise additional money for the scholarship fund through the “Run for the Fair 5K” and “Kid’s Fun Run,” while also having the participation of the Westport & Dartmouth students design the t-shirts to help celebrate the Westport Fair.

Jim McGaw

A lifelong Portsmouth resident, Jim graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1982 and earned a journalism degree from the University of Rhode Island in 1986. He's worked two different stints at East Bay Newspapers, for a total of 18 years with the company so far. When not running all over town bringing you the news from Portsmouth, Jim listens to lots and lots and lots of music, watches obscure silent films from the '20s and usually has three books going at once. He also loves to cook crazy New Orleans dishes for his wife of 25 years, Michelle, and their two sons, Jake and Max.
