Several local companies are joining forces to provide an evening of music, food and fun to benefit The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals which continues its work to rescue over 1,000 survivors of a an immense animal cruelty case here.

Laurie Ammann and Ellie Wickes of On Point Property Agents (a William Raveis Group),with Fancheezical Food Truck and the Russell family’s Buzzards Bay Brewing will sponsor the FIR (Field Investigation and Response) Team Appreciation Event on Wednesday Sept. 28, from 4-8 p.m. at Buzzards Bay Brewery, 98 Horseneck Road, Westport.

Since July, the ASPCA’s Field Investigation and Response (FIR) Team has been in Westport, assisting the Westport Police Department and other agencies in what has been called the largest animal cruelty case in the Northeast.

All of the animals were stabilized then removed from the scene and transported to a temporary shelter set up and operated by the ASPCA. From there, a growing number have been placed with various rescue organizations. The species range from farm animals like cows, pigs, sheep and chickens, to more unusual species like pheasant and peacock.

“To thank the ASPCA for their hard work and to raise funds to offset the tremendous expense of this rescue operation, the public is invited to this family friendly event featuring live music by Neal McCarthy Music, a 50/50 raffle, outdoor games, a local farmers market and more information about the ASPCA’s work,” organizers said.

There will be food and beverages available for purchase with a portion of the proceeds benefitting the ASPCA’s work specifically with the Westport Animals. No outside alcohol is allowed.
