Rom: Motivation of Tiverton town governance

Posted

Understanding how the current Town Council (TC) candidates and the Tiverton Taxpayers Association (TTA) candidates will govern Tiverton, you first need to understand the motivational foundation of these two vastly different groups. In my opinion, the present TC candidates are motivated by power and control relying heavily upon uninformed voters.

The TTA town council and budget committee candidates are motivated by the democratic process: smaller government and control of the town budget through the Financial Town Referendum (FTR) by the voters of Tiverton.

Please do not vote for town council and budget committee candidates based on a name you see on a lawn sign, or the first seven names that appear on the ballot. Take the time to be informed about the candidates, especially the candidates that have a previous town council voting record. The continuation of the FTR process as we know it today will rely on your informed vote not only for candidates, but also for your vote to reject all of the TC sponsored charter changes that will appear on the November 6 ballot.

I am a TTA candidate for town council with a challenge to inform voters (richard_a_rom@yahoo.com) of the TTA Slate of Candidates.
