Letter: Don’t buy the gossip — Tiverton solicitor choice was legal

Someone should explain to the recent letter writers that not everything you read on Facebook is true.

Take, for instance, the rumor that the newly elected Tiverton Town Council members should not vote for a  town solicitor because of lawsuits. They filed papers in court to remove themselves from those suits weeks ago.

The local gossip mill spun the lie time and time again, You can fool some of the people some of the time. But not all of the people.  Those who pay attention know better and never fall for their lies.

I don't think they will win this fight, because the four new councilors did their homework. They followed the Charter, Roberts Rules, and state statute.  The show the special interest group put on at the council meeting won't be winning them an Academy Award. Clown Shows are good for a laugh though.

The Tiverton Taxpayers Association is a group of local home and business owners who seek honest government.  The backroom deals of the past need to be a thing of the past. The TTA is working for the people of Tiverton.
