Patriots play Middletown at home today

PORTSMOUTH — The Portsmouth High School unified basketball team beat Barrington on the road last week, 64-45.

The high scorer for the Patriots was Zach Pierce, with 18 points.

Other offensive contributors were Nick Costa (4 points), Kyle Boudreau (12), Henry Banks (14) and Jack Ross (16).

PHS is scheduled to play Middletown at home in the school’s field house today, March 28, at 3:30 p.m. The team will travel to Tiverton High School next Wednesday, April 4, for a 3:30 p.m. game.

In unified sports, students with and without intellectual disabilities play together on the same team. The players with intellectual disabilities are the athletes, while other members are their partners, or helpers/coaches.

The varsity sports program falls under the purview of the R.I. Interscholastic League (RIIL) in partnership with R.I. Special Olympics.
