Rachel M. Anselmo, 32, Tiverton

Rachel M. Anselmo (Gendreau), 32, of Tiverton, passed away on June 1, 2017, after a hard-fought battle with cancer. She was the loving wife of Jacob Anselmo and mother to Sophia Rae Anselmo and Henry Albert Anselmo.

Rachel was the daughter of the late Raymond Gendreau and Denise Gendreau (Souza) of Fall River. She also leaves behind her dear brother, Kevin R. Gendreau, grandmother Jeannette Carro (Gendreau), of Swansea, Mass., Godfather Dennis Gendreau of Westport, Godmother Cheryl DeSa (Souza) of Somerset, Mass., and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

Rachel graduated from B.M.C. Durfee High School in 2002. She spent the last seven years working at Family Ties Restaurant in Tiverton. Rachel enjoyed nothing more than spending quality time with her family and friends, especially her children. She is best known for the joy she brought to others as well as her positivity and strength, even during the toughest of times. 

Visitation will be held on Friday, June 16, from 3 to 8 p.m. at Pocasset Memorial Funeral Home, 462 Main Road, Tiverton. A celebration of Rachel's life will be held the following day, Saturday, June 17 at 11 a.m., also at Pocasset Memorial Funeral Home. Jim McGaw

A lifelong Portsmouth resident, Jim graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1982 and earned a journalism degree from the University of Rhode Island in 1986. He's worked two different stints at East Bay Newspapers, for a total of 18 years with the company so far. When not running all over town bringing you the news from Portsmouth, Jim listens to lots and lots and lots of music, watches obscure silent films from the '20s and usually has three books going at once. He also loves to cook crazy New Orleans dishes for his wife of 25 years, Michelle, and their two sons, Jake and Max.
