The Tiverton Tigers cheerleading team scored 169.25 points Saturday to bring home a second consecutive state cheerleading championship in the Small School Division. Competing at the Providence Career & Technical Academy, the Tigers edged second place St. Raphael which scored 162 points.
Meanwhile, Portsmouth High School finished second to Tolman in the Medium School Division.
It was a remarkable performance for Tiverton Coach Susan McDermott’s squad. Saturday, though, while some of the competition missed stunts, the Tigers, led by senior Captain Lilly Rapoza, consistently handled theirs well.
