Wealther Mae Ericson, 97

Wealther Mae (Horsman) Ericson, 97, died on Tuesday, Oct. 3, 2017, at John Clarke Nursing Center in Middletown.  She was predeceased by her loving husband, Howard Ericson, and sisters, Gladys Horsman and Elizabeth Levesque, as well as her former husband, Douglas Wilkinson.  Born in North Tiverton, she was the daughter of the late George Horsman & Elizabeth (Dawson) Horsman. 

Her life was dedicated to the care of her family, her church and her community.  Her spirited and loving presence will be greatly missed by all those she has touched.  

She is survived by her loving daughter, Sandra Trocki and her husband Daniel of Middletown; granddaughters, Liisa Trocki of Middletown, Kristine Trocki and husband Raymond Iannetta of Jamestown, and Carol Lynn Trocki of Little Compton; and great-grandson Teddy Trocki-Ryba of Jamestown.  She was the mother of the late Susan Wilkinson Tidwell and leaves two grandsons, Michael Walsingham and Brian Walsingham, their families and six great-grandchildren in Georgia.  She is also survived by her husband's children, Marion Hill, David Ericson, Sharon Spencer and Deborah Yost, and the grandchildren and great-grandchildren they shared during their 37-year marriage together.

Her memorial service was held on Sunday, Oct. 15, at Calvary United Methodist Church in Middletown.   Private burial was in Pocasset Hill Cemetery.  Gifts in her memory may be made to Calvary United Methodist Church.  Arrangements have been entrusted to Pocasset Memorial Funeral Home.  For online messages of condolence, kindly visit www.almeida-pocasset.com

A lifelong Portsmouth resident, Jim graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1982 and earned a journalism degree from the University of Rhode Island in 1986. He's worked two different stints at East Bay Newspapers, for a total of 18 years with the company so far. When not running all over town bringing you the news from Portsmouth, Jim listens to lots and lots and lots of music, watches obscure silent films from the '20s and usually has three books going at once. He also loves to cook crazy New Orleans dishes for his wife of 25 years, Michelle, and their two sons, Jake and Max.
