Letter: Don't be fooled by Rep. Malik's comments

To the editor:

I wish to make a public comment on the article which makes claim former Representative Malik wishes to run again as a write in for District 67.

After losing in the primary he publicly announced his retirement and that he was through with the back door politics known to be here in RI. I am a victim of the former representative who sat as the Veteran Affairs Chairman and for 2 years I expressed my concerns to change a law that was discriminating our disabled veterans out of a property relief credit. The proposed change needed to add 6 words that would have corrected this injustice towards disabled veterans, and as the legislative session closed in June, so did this bill.

I would hope the voters of this 67th district will not be fooled by this person's comments, because I ask you to look at his record. Every major vote for new legislation in 2016, Mr. Malik was absent, and did not vote. He became a career politician and sat in this seat to better himself and the needs of other fellow politicians and forgot about the constituents that voted him in to represent us. Back door politics it's called, and I think the Primary made it clear, enough of this.

Jason Knight is the breath of fresh air we need to get state government back in the hands of the people, and not in the back room of the state house.
