Letter: Luther Blount deserves town monument

To the editor:
In regards to a recent article written in the Warren Times, I wanted to elaborate on Andre Asselin’s urgent request to honor Mr. Blount. I agree that if 10 years have already passed, it would be a shame to let another 10 years go by without recognizing Warren’s philanthropist. Knowing that Mr. Blount has his name etched mostly on Warren’s waterfront that he worked so tirelessly to create, he deserves some type of a monument for his accolades to his town.
I worked for Mr. Blount in the 1970s on one of his cruising boats, the New Shoreham. He was a guest on board many times, and one could tell the passion he felt for his vessels.
I am asking the council to please not let Mr. Blount fall through the cracks for he deserves recognition for his compassionate works he’s left to our great town of Warren
