Warren hires two new police officers
One just graduated academy; other nearly done with training
Warren is welcoming the new year with two new police officers.
Bristol resident Mason Hinken, 23, graduated from the Rhode Island Municipal Police Training Academy last Tuesday and has started 12 weeks of field training. Fellow probationary officer Matt Hozempa, a transfer to Warren from the TF Green Airport Police force, is just wrapping up his training after being hired by the department in November. A North Providence resident, he graduated from Mt. Hope High School in 2003 and earned a bachelor of arts degree from Rhode Island College in May 2008
“He’s about ready to go,” Deputy Warren Police Chief Joseph Loiselle said.
Officer Hinken, 23, holds an Associate’s Degree in Criminal Justice from Bristol Community College, Deputy Chief Loiselle said.
With the two officers’ hirings, the Warren Police Department now has a full contingent of 22 officers. The previous vacancies were the result of one former officer leaving for the Rhode Island State Police, and another resigning.
