Warren police logs: Domestic violence arrests

Monday, August 1
The fire department fielded a fire call from Child Street at 1:17 p.m. It turned out to be from food left on a stove.
A caller from Market Street told police that a young boy threw a cup of ice at her. Police reported that the boy apologized, and the woman was satisfied.
Benjamin Mendonca, 18, of Bristol, was charged with vandalism/malicious injury to property, and disorderly conduct, after police got a call about a man punching mailboxes on Ridgeway Drive.
Police got a complaint about a suspicious bicyclist looking at house by Kinnicutt Avenue and Child Street.
Someone complained about a dog running loose at the Warren Town Beach.
A Cranberry Lane woman complained that her daughter left the house against her wishes.
Tuesday, August 2
Gerson O. Dones, 25, of Providence, was charged with obstructing a police officer and driving without or on an expired license, third or greater offense, after begin pulled over on Detroit Avenue.
A Hanley Lane man complained that his girlfriend would not leave his residence.
Hours later, police received another call from Hanley Lane, though it is unclear if it was the same address. In this case, a woman complained that a man was destroying property.
Police picked up Bryan G. Machado, 32, of 5 Hanley Lane, on a warrant for domestic simple assault/battery, domestic disorderly conduct and domestic vandalism/malicious injury to property.
Wednesday, August 3
A Wilbur Avenue called police after being bitten by a bat. Over on Market Street, a similar call came in shortly after, but it was a dog, not a bat.
A Hanley Lane resident asked to speak to police about cyber harassment.
A Maple Road woman told police that someone broke into her home while she was asleep. Glass was broken out in the door, and her purse was missing, she said.
Someone stole a chair from outside of a Church Street business.
Someone complained about kids skateboarding on Child Street.
A Touisset Road woman complained that her child’s father refused to hand over the child.
Police got a call from Brady Street at 10:16, about a man with a flashlight who appeared to be looking in cars. Turns out he was looking for his lost wallet.
Thursday, August 4
A Water Street called reported someone in the backyard. Police found nothing amiss.
Someone damaged a mailbox on Brady Street.
Police got a call about a possibly injured skunk on Franklin Street. No word on whether the animal control officer approached it with a 10-foot pole.
A panhandler was reported on Market Street.
A Highview Avenue woman complained about two loose dogs on her property.
A Water Street resident reported receiving harassing text messages.
A woman’s bank card was taken from her car, parked on Market Street.
Friday, August 5
An Asselin Street resident complained of people sitting on a nearby porch who appeared to be smoking marijuana. Police checked it out and noted that they weren’t.
A Kinnicutt Avenue man complained that his ex was sending him harassing texts and phone calls.
Possible drunk driver calls came in from Arlignton Avenue and Market Street.
Saturday, August 6
A caller called police from Libby Lane at 2:36 a.m. to report two men going behind a building at the Kickemuit Village apartments. Turns out they were playing Pokemon Go.
A Market Street resident complained about an unruly stepson.
A man complained that someone threw a socket wretch at his car.
A loud music complaint came in from Mason Street.
A Hanley Road woman complained that her ex-boyfriend used her credit card without her permission.
A Child Street resident complained about rowdy neighbors.
Sunday, August 7
Police received a complaint about juveniles on Homestead Avenue who were swearing excessively.
An illegal shellfishing complaint came in from Water Street. DEM was called in but there was no word on any action by the agency.
Police went to Water Street at 9:17 p.m. for a fight between sisters.
Police got a call about a woman “skulking around” Cutler Street with a bag in her hands. Police said it contained purchases from a trip to Cumberland Farms.
Monday, August 8
Fire crews wee called out to Child Street for a cooking mishap.
Amy A. Moore, 33, of 56 Market St., Apt. 3, was charged with domestic simple assault and domestic disorderly conduct after police were called to her home for a well-being check on a child.
Tuesday, August 9
A caller reported seeing a sheen of oil on the Warren River. The harbormaster was called.
