Barbara Mae (Morrissette) King, 80, of Warren and formerly of Bristol, passed away Friday, April 12, 2019 at Royal Middletown Nursing and Rehabilitation, Middletown.

Born in Pawtucket, she was the daughter of the late Leo A. and Alberta E. (Feugill) Morrissette.

Barbara was a hairdresser and a co-owner of Smart Set Shear Design Hair Salon in Riverside. Barbara was a fun-loving person who enjoyed music, dancing and being by the ocean and bay.

She was the beloved mother of Bridgette McPhillips, Gregory King and the late James “Jay” King. She will be dearly missed by her grandchildren, Marissa McPhillips, Christina McPhillips, Alexander King and Trevor King. Barbara is also survived by her sister, Alberta “Scootchy” Severs; brother-in-law, Russell Severs; and several nieces and nephews.

She was the sister of the late Lee Arthur Morrissette.

Relatives and friends are invited to a Mass of Christian Burial on Monday, April 22, 2019 at 10 in St. Mary of the Bay Parish, 645 Main St., Warren. Burial in St. Jean the Baptist Cemetery, Warren.

Arrangements are in the care of Wilbur-Romano Funeral Home, Warren.

A lifelong Portsmouth resident, Jim graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1982 and earned a journalism degree from the University of Rhode Island in 1986. He's worked two different stints at East Bay Newspapers, for a total of 18 years with the company so far. When not running all over town bringing you the news from Portsmouth, Jim listens to lots and lots and lots of music, watches obscure silent films from the '20s and usually has three books going at once. He also loves to cook crazy New Orleans dishes for his wife of 25 years, Michelle, and their two sons, Jake and Max.
