Contractors hired by the Bristol County Water Authority may soon be in a neighborhood near you, installing new water mains across Barrington, Warren and Bristol in hopes of increasing water pressure to lagging areas and improving crumbling, decades-old supply lines.
Starting in early October, workers from Biszko Contracting will start replacing mains in Barrington, moving Bristol in late October and Warren in November. The project cost is estimated at $1.5 million and in all, some 4,300 linear feet of line will be replaced. In some cases, existing mains will need above ground bypass pipes while the work is being carried out; residents who will see work in their neighborhood should have already received mailers from the BCWA. The schedule is as follows:
Barrington
Starting Monday, Oct. 1, workers will replace:
* 600 feet of mains along Crown Avenue and Townsend Street
* 1,440 feet of mains along Lantern Lane
* 460 feet of main along Ronald Road
* 480 feet of mains along Vincent Paul Drive
* 300 feet of mains along Salisbury Road
Bristol
Starting in late October, workers will replace:
* 200 feet of mains along San Miguel Drive
* 140 feet of mains along San Jose Drive
* 450 feet of mains along Hopeworth Avenue
* 200 feet of mains along Erickson Drive
* 200 feet of mains along Evelyn Drive
Warren
Starting in November, workers will replace:
* 280 feet of mains along Fatima Drive
* 350 feet of mains along Ridgeway Drive
