Science Olympiad is a national organization that promotes interest in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) fields. Students practice after school to cross train for events and work in teams of two during the competition. This was only Kickemuit Middle School’s third team in recent memory. The team is run by head coach Kerri Krawczyk. Baylee DiMarco, a mathematics teacher at KMS, served as assistant coach, and there were several parent volunteers as well.
The after school program is funded by the Bristol Warren Educational Foundation. Each year the head coach completes a grant application in order to receive funding for supplies and other essentials.
