David S. Frerichs Jr., 40, of Barrington, died unexpectedly on Wednesday, April 11, 2018. He was the husband of Heather (Soboleski) Frerichs.

David was born in Providence, as son of David S. and Barbara Frerichs Sr. of Warren and the late Robin (Bettencourt) Frerichs.

David was a Vice Principal for the Tiverton Middle School, and also a Warehouse Manager for Cardi’s Furniture in Swansea.

He had lived in Barrington for the last two and a half years, coming from East Providence. Dave was a parishioner of St. Luke’s Church. He enjoyed spending time and also helping out on his family’s farm, The Frerichs Farm in Warren. He also helped coach his children’s sports.

Dave liked spending time with his family and walking with his children to the beach.

Besides his wife he is survived by his son Thomas Frerichs, and daughter Emma Frerichs, both at home in Barrington. He was the brother of Marcia Sirois of East Providence.

Mr. Frerichs was the son-in-law of Vincent and Sara Jane Soboleski of Bristol, and Barbara Soboleski of East Providence

His funeral will be held Monday, April 16,2018 at 8:30 am from Smith Funeral and Memorial Services, 8 Schoolhouse Road, Warren, with a Mass of Christian burial at 10 am in St. Luke’s Church, 108 Washington Road, Barrington.

Burial will follow in St. Mary of the Bay Cemetery, Vernon Street, Warren. 
Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Calling hours are Sunday, April 15, 2018 from 1 to 4 pm.

A lifelong Portsmouth resident, Jim graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1982 and earned a journalism degree from the University of Rhode Island in 1986. He's worked two different stints at East Bay Newspapers, for a total of 18 years with the company so far. When not running all over town bringing you the news from Portsmouth, Jim listens to lots and lots and lots of music, watches obscure silent films from the '20s and usually has three books going at once. He also loves to cook crazy New Orleans dishes for his wife of 25 years, Michelle, and their two sons, Jake and Max.
