To the editor:
In response to the Article regarding the crosswalk accident, I feel for Tara Thibaudeau's pain and concerns.  But don't hold your hopes to high to get assistance from Warren Officials. I can say this as I fought with these same officials to address sidewalk safety, and issues that violated the ADA laws. They all fell on deaf ears. As a handicap person I took my life in my hands every time I took to the sidewalks in Warren, from the numerous near misses from being hit at crosswalks, to being struck by a backing car onto Child St. Most drivers don't remember that a pedestrian has the rite of way, That includes a child on a bike, and a handicap person with a mobility device.  After the tragic death in front of Deletka's a few years back, a suggestion was to ask the DOT to paint all the crosswalks with a bright yellow to better identify these crosswalks, and that fell into no win idea.
The best idea is with education, and I hope that is successful, If the Town would step to their responsibility, signage warning drivers of the pedestrians crossing might help, but I am sure that is not on anyone's list of things to do!
