George Steven Barboza, 64, brother, father and friend, passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 21, at Hope Hospice & Palliative Care in Providence.

He was the beloved son of the late George “Banjo” Barboza and Arlene (Magill) Barboza and was the eldest of six children. He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He was known for his love of music, his sense of humor and his concern for others.

Mr. Barboza is survived by his daughter, Chelsey Barton-Karnes; his sisters, Cheryl Iiams, Diane Disano and Mary E. Barboza; his brothers, Manuel Barboza and Alan Barboza; and his grandson, Marley B. Karnes.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian burial on Tuesday, May 8, at 10 a.m. at St. Mary’s Church on Wood Street in Bristol.
