Gilda (Medeiros) Vincent, 100, of Warren, died Sunday, Sept. 9, 2018 at the Grace Barker Nursing Home. She was the former wife of the late Roswell Vincent.

Born in Fall River, Gilda was a waitress for the Wharf Tavern for over 40 years before retiring in 1971.

Mrs. Vincent was a Warren resident all of her life, and was a member of the former St. Mark’s Episcopal Church of Warren.

Mrs. Vincent is survived by her children, Mark Vincent of Worcester, MA., Robin Jordan of Warren, and Cherie Merlan of Warren. She was raised by her aunt the late Maria Borges. Mrs. Vincent was the grandmother of Felicia LaFlamme, Erin Coco, Monique and Morgan Vincent, and also the great-grandmother of six. She was the grandmother of the late Jason and Sean Foster.

Her funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 15 at Smith Funeral and Memorial Services, 8 Schoolhouse Road, Warren. Burial will follow in South Burial Ground, Warren. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Calling hours are Friday, Sept. 14 from 5 to 8 pm.

In lieu of flowers, gifts in her memory may be sent to the Warren Animal Shelter, 80 Wood St., Warren, RI, 02885.

A lifelong Portsmouth resident, Jim graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1982 and earned a journalism degree from the University of Rhode Island in 1986. He's worked two different stints at East Bay Newspapers, for a total of 18 years with the company so far. When not running all over town bringing you the news from Portsmouth, Jim listens to lots and lots and lots of music, watches obscure silent films from the '20s and usually has three books going at once. He also loves to cook crazy New Orleans dishes for his wife of 25 years, Michelle, and their two sons, Jake and Max.
