Huskies fall short in seventh, lose 4-3 to Mounties

BRISTOL — The Mt. Hope baseball team lost to Mount St. Charles 4-3 in a Division II Pod I loser’s’ bracket playoff game at Guiteras Field on Monday night. Down 4-0, the Huskies waited till the sixth and the seventh innings to mount their comeback. The Huskies fell short when Mounties catcher Thomas Bourque threw out Cam Santerre trying to steal second with clean up hitter, Nick Simeone at the plate to end the game.

Ryan Pires scored in the sixth while running for Simone smacked a hit to right field. Charles Amarante and Caden Cabral scored for the Huskies in the seventh with two outs. Cabral had three hits and an RBI for the Huskies.

The Mounties scored three runs off Huskies starter, Connor Padovich. Jacob Servant came aboard and gave up a run in relief, before blanking the Mounties the rest of the way.

The Huskies ended the season with a 12-10 record overall and a 10-8 record in the division.
