Letter: Do you really know what the Progressives stand for?

Posted

In an earlier letter to the editor I cautioned all Rhode Island voters to beware of candidates running for state and local elected office who subscribe to the Progressive Democrat left — aka Democrat socialist — agenda and position on issues.

This new breed of Democrats are a far cry from the Democrat party of my youth and that of my and most likely your parents. It behooves every voter to know as much as possible about the political leanings and issues to be supported by any candidate you might be inclined to favor with your vote. With that purpose in mind, I urge everyone to take a good look and give careful thought to the below 2017 Progressive Values Pledge regarding matters coming before our General Assembly, [with my commentary inserted].

It is my concern that the progressive left candidates and incumbent representatives and senators are intent on taking over the leadership of the state General Assembly. That should concern all of us.

2017 Progressive Values Pledge – General Assembly

I pledge not to vote for Nicholas Mattiello or Dominick Ruggerio for leadership positions.

I pledge to support or introduce anti-corruption and transparent government legislation.

I pledge to support or introduce legislation protecting the right to choose [pro-abortion].

I pledge to support or introduce legislation to repeal voter ID [advance voter fraud].

I pledge to support or introduce legislation to publicly fund elections.

I pledge to support or introduce human rights legislation for undocumented persons [encourage illegals].

I pledge to support or introduce legislation to reverse the climate change crisis [control Mother Nature].

I pledge to support or introduce single-payer health care legislation [socialized medicine].

I pledge to support or introduce legislation protecting LGBTQ rights [normalize the unnatural].

I pledge to support or introduce tuition-free public college legislation [more taxpayer spending].

I pledge to support or introduce legislation to increase affordable housing in Rhode Island [who really benefits?].

I pledge to support or introduce legislation promoting the right of all workers to unionize [or choose not to without penalty or coercion].

I pledge to support or introduce legislation to improve public transportation [tolling scam].

I pledge to support or introduce gun reform legislation when elected [anti-Second Amendment].

I pledge to support or introduce legislation that promotes social, economic, racial and environmental justice [social vice equal justice].

I pledge to oppose conservative legislation and threats to progressive values [intolerance of anything not progressive].
