Letter: Help us save Warren's architectural history

Posted

To the editor:

Two years ago the Warren Heritage Foundation established a permanent endowment fund for Warren at the Rhode Island Foundation, Providence, Rhode Island. The establishment of a permanent endowment fund for Warren has been one of the major goals from the very beginning of our foundation. Over the past five years we have reserved funds from our galas and house tour and in August of 2017 started the fund with an initial deposit of $10,000. This fund is dedicated to our mission of saving buildings and sites that have historical and architectural significance in the Town of Warren.

Many of you generously donated to our second fall endowment fund drive and as a result we have deposited an additional $100,783 to the endowment fund this year bringing the balance to $117,993. There are very few organizations that give money for bricks and mortar, and many of the eligible organizations no longer have a base of support. Donors can feel confident their giving will help grow this fund and the annual distributions will become an important revenue stream for awarding grants for brick and mortar work in Warren.

We hope to add to the initial amount through our yearly endowment campaign, corporate donations, bequests and private donations. Donations can be sent to the Warren Heritage Foundation at P.O. Box 101, Warren, Rhode Island 02885. All monies received are fully tax deductible and will be added to the permanent fund at the Rhode Island Foundation.

I thank you for your continuing support and look forward to seeing you at our 2019 fund raiser in September.
