Melanie Marie Rene, 28, of Warren, died Saturday, August 25, 2018 at Hope Hospice, surrounded by her family.

She was born in Providence, a daughter of Gilbert Rene III and Lisa ( Marchand) Rene, both of Warren. Melanie was a cook at various restaurants in the local area.

Melanie had been a Warren resident all of her life. She was a parishioner of the former St. Jean the Baptiste Church. She liked skateboarding, listening to music and taking pictures.

Besides her parents, she is survived by her brother, Gilbert Rene IV of Warren; and her sister, Rachel Rene of Warren. She was the aunt of Julian and the niece of Tom Marchand, William Marchand and James Marchand. She was the granddaughter of the late Wilfred and Theresa Marchand, the granddaughter of Gilbert Rene Jr. and Dorothy Bianco, the niece of the late Louis Marchand, and the long-time partner of Joseph Rego of Warren.

Her funeral service will be held at noon Saturday, Sept. 8, at Smith Funeral, Memorial and Cremation Services, 8 Schoolhouse Road, Warren. Burial will follow in St. Jean the Baptiste Cemetery, Warren.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Calling hours are Saturday, Sept. 8, 2018 from

 9 am to noon.
