The Mt. Hope boys and girls track seasons started off slowly last week. The girls began with a 1-4 record in the Eastern Division. Last Thursday the Lady Huskies lost to Barrington 22-90, and St. Raphael Academy 26-34 during a regular season meet at Barrington. On Monday the girls beat St. Patrick Academy 86-0, but lost to Portsmouth 33-113 and Bay View 47-54.

The boys track team also started the season off slow with 1-3 record in the Eastern Division. The Huskies lost to Barrington 34-89 and St. Raphael Academy 55-57 at Barrington High School on Thursday. On Monday the Huskies beat St. Patrick Academy 77-14, but lost to Portsmouth 20-123.

A lifelong Portsmouth resident, Jim graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1982 and earned a journalism degree from the University of Rhode Island in 1986. He's worked two different stints at East Bay Newspapers, for a total of 18 years with the company so far.
