Warren hires new DPW, finance director

Warren has hired a new finance director to replace Elizabeth LeBlanc, who recently left the job after four months in town: Matthew Bobola, who holds an MBA in financial modeling/analysis, budgets, forecasting and internal audit, is currently on the job after his hiring was ratified by the Warren Town Council last Tuesday, Oct. 10.

Mr. Bobola, who was interviewed for the position prior to Ms. LeBlanc’s hiring, was a municipal worker for the City of Providence before going into the private sector. But he said this week that he is glad to be back in government.

“I worked in government for the city of Providence for 11 years, then I went into a private sector for about three years and I knew my true passion was with government and municipalities,” Bobola said. “This opportunity came up, the town manager contacted me, I felt it would be a good fit and I accepted the position.I’ve been here for about a week and I like it so far,” Mr. Bobola said. “I think it’s going to be a good fit, everyone in town seems nice and the town itself is nice too.”

As of the 2017-2018 fiscal year, the position is salaried at $68,569.

Mr. Bobola’s is not the only key department head hiring of late. Long-time DPW foreman Jan Malik, who was running the department since the recent departure of Thomas Degnan, was also named permanent director at last week’s Warren Town Council meeting.
