Warren police logs: Man punches fingerprint machine

Monday, Oct. 30

A caller on Read Avenue called to report that a tree was blocking her driveway.

An Orchard Avenue resident reported credit card fraud.

The animal control officer played hide and go seek again with a turkey reported injured in Bagy Wrinkle Cove. The ACO reports that the bird is an “ongoing issue,” and flies away whenever its approached.

A Katie Drive woman reported hearing three gunshots behind her home.

An Overhill Road woman reported that her husband’s ex-wife came by; she was not wanted there, she said.

Joshua Lacey, 34, of Cumberland, was charged with driving after the denial, suspension or revocation of his license, following a traffic stop on Market Street.

Tuesday, Oct. 31

A Baker Street resident complained that a neighbor was running a generator even after power had been restored. The man told police that he was burning off the remaining fuel left in the machine.

A walk-in turned in a wallet found outside police headquarters.

A Company Street woman told police she believed her home had been broken into.

An Arlington Avenue resident complained that two drunken men were trying to trick-or-treat.

A Seymour Street resident called police after a trick-or-treater came by at 9:51 p.m. She told police she thought it was strange that he was out that late.

Wednesday, Nov. 1

A caller near Long Lane and Barton Avenue reported hearing shots fired.

A Vernon Street woman reported that her niece was being bulled at school.

A caller told police that his Market Street neighbors were riding mopeds on the sidewalk.

A Vernon Street woman called police after she heard the doorbell, went to check and found nobody there.

Thursday, Nov. 2

A Cutler Street resident complained that a family member emptied her bank account.

Someone slashed the tires on a Chestnut Street resident’s car.

Gervert Correa, 21, of Providence, was charged with driving after the denial, suspension or revocation of his license, following a traffic stop on Water Street.

A caller reported seeing a coyote on Overhill Road.

A caller reported hitting a deer while heading into Warren on Market Stree, near the Country Inn restaurant. He said the deer ran into the woods.

Friday, Nov. 3

A William Avenue resident reported a phone scam.

Kevin Morais, 32, of Cranston, was arrested by Cranston police on a Warren warrant for two counts of forgery and counterfeiting, misdemeanor receiving stolen goods and larceny under $1,500. Police said the charges came after a Warren woman reported her checks stolen by her ex-roommate. Police learned that Mr. Morais, a cousin of that ex-roommate, had used several of those checks.

Police tried several times to get in touch with the owner of several cows and a bull which had gotten loose and were wandering around Barton Avenue. They had no luck, though the animals eventually ended back where they belong.

James L. Principe, 49, of 134 Kickemut Road, was charged with domestic disorderly conduct, disorderly conduct and resisting arrest, after police were called to Kickemit Road for a report of a man knocking on a window. When they arrived he was not there, but they tracked him down at his home, also on Kickemuit Road. He was taken to the station and while there, allegedly punched the department’s fingerprint machine and was combative with officers.

Donald L. Cunningham, 40, listed as “homeless” in the police log, was arrested on a Sixth Division District Court bench warrant after police investigated a suspicious person on Child Street at 10:17 p.m.

Saturday, Nov. 4

Police got a call about a suspicious person taking photos near Child Street. Police caught up with the photographer, who was taking pictures of foliage.

Police spoke to a group of kids who were reportedly playing in people’s yards.

Sunday, Nov. 5

Nelson M. Santos, 34, of 67 Seymour St., was charged with driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol, and refusal to submit to a chemical test, after police pulled him over on Market Street at 12:48 a.m.

A caller reported seeing several kids on the roof of the bath house at Jamiel’s Park. Police spoke to them.

A caller complained about a panhandler at Child and Main streets.

Police detained a juvenile after his mother called police to report being assaulted. There was no word on whether charges were filed.

A panhandler was called in from Main Street.

Monday, Nov. 6

A woman walking down Lyndon Street found a bong on the sidewalk and called police.
