Warren police: Motorcyclist injured in crash Friday

Monday, July 23

An injured goose drew a police response to Child Street just after 7:30 a.m.

Police contacted a woman whose wallet officers found. She said she’d be back the next day to pick it up.

Kerrianne Bettencourt, 40, of Fall River, was arrested on a Rhode Island Superior Court warrant after police were called to Main Street at 2:20 p.m. for an altercation between a man and woman. Ms. Bettencourt was taken to the ACI.

A man turned in a lost wallet; police contacted the owner, who came to the station to pick it up.

A Joseph Drive man reported receiving harassing text messages. Officers noted that the texts were not threatening or harassing.

A caller spotted two pillows in the middle of Main Street and called the police.

Tuesday, July 24

Police helped a Child Street man after he called to report locking himself out of his house.

Police searched for an erratic/aggressive driver on and around Metacom Avenue after getting a call from another motorist.

Police got a call about a person sleeping in Jamiel Park around 8:17 a.m.

Police were called to a Hope Street home to help keep the peace.

Tools were reported stolen from a Schoolhouse Road property.

A loose dog was reported on Child Street.

A Drysdale Street complained that a neighbor was playing music too loudly. Police spoke to all involved.

A man reported a foul odor on the East Bay Bike Path. Officers noted it was probably from the high tide.

Wednesday, July 25

A caller from Davis Street reported being harassed.

Police were called to Child Street for an issue between the caller’s son and his ex-girlfriend.

Thursday, July 26

A caller reported a car driving all over the road on Wheaton Street.

Police dispersed a person spotted sleeping in the grass along Child Street just before 10 a.m.

A caller reported getting into an argument with a co-worker.

The Barrington Police Department asked for mutual aid after receiving reports of a man hanging off the side of his boat in the Palmer River. Turns out he was just swimming.

An employee of a Metacom Avenue restaurant reported that a drunk driver had just gone through the drive through. 

A Vernon Street man reported being assaulted by his friend, and officers requested a rescue for the man, who may have injured his back. The injured man declined to press charges.

Friday, July 27

A coyote was sighted on Locust Terrace at 10:22 a.m.

A Kinnicutt Avenue woman reported receiving harassing texts from a man.

A woman walking her dog on the Warren Town Beach was spoken to by officers, and left with the dog.

Several callers reporting a possible flare being lit over the Kickemuit River at Laurel Park may have been mistaken. Police believe it might have been from fireworks over land.

Johnpaul R. Callahan, 20, of Riverside, was charged with driving after the denial, suspension or revocation of his license, first offense.

A caller complained about noisy kids on Wood Street.

Police were called about a father and son fighting on Martin Street. Police spoke to both and neither wanted to pursue the issue.

A Warren man was taken to Rhode Island Hospital with serious injuries after crashing his motorcycle into a cement wall behind St. Mary of the Bay Church just before 11 p.m. Police said Ronald Tricca, 36, of Lyndon St., had turned into the church’s large parking lot from Water Street and was attempting to navigate onto a side street at the left rear of the lot when he struck the wall. Police said he had road rash, injured his knees and suffered from possible back and/or neck injuries in the accident. Mr. Tricca was transported to Rhode Island Hospital; police are still investigating and no citations have yet been issued. Mr. Tricca was still in the hospital Monday morning, though officials there would not release his status.

Saturday, July 28

A Main Street man called police after water started leaking from an upstairs apartment into his.

A caller from Metacom Avenue reported a neighbor playing loud music. An officer who arrived reported that the man refused to turn down the music, so another officer responded with a sound meter. The volume measured under the 55 decibel limit, and the band played on.

An Evie Drive resident told police that her daughter saw a man look in her window. A neighbor reported to police investigating the incident that two solicitors for a political campaign had just left the area.

Steven M. Cipolla, 58, of Cranston, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, first offense, after police pulled him over on Market Street at 1:23 a.m.

An Arlington Avenue man reported spotting bullet holes in his apartment.

Don M. Wise, 24, of Cranston, was picked up on a Rhode Island State Police warrant for felony assault with a dangerous weapon, and disorderly conduct.

A loud music call came in from Long Lane, but the volume fell under the town’s decibel limit. Police were called back several hours later and again, the decibel reading fell within the allowable limit.

Monday, July 30

James D. Mansfield, 22, of Swansea, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs and refusal to submit to a chemical test, after police responded to Schoolhouse Road at 1:15 a.m. for an accident; Mr. Mansfield’s car struck another, parked car.
