The Warren Town Beach has been closed to swimming for the second time this summer, after testing showed elevated amounts of bacteria there.
The Rhode Island Department of Health recommended the beach’s closure Tuesday, July 25 and the state’s beach closure website lists it as closed as of that date. Specifically, monitors found concentrations of Enterocci bacteria in the water exceeding 60cfu (colony forming units) per 100 milliliters of water.
This is not the summer’s first closure in Warren. The town beach was ordered closed to swimming exactly one month earlier, on June 25, and was re-opened two days later. The beach is currently one of seven statewide ordered closed due to high bacteria counts. Other closures are in Smithfield, Middletown, Warwick and Barrington.
