Catherine M. Routhier, 52, Westport

Catherine M. Routhier, 52, of Westport, passed away on Tuesday, February 28, 2017, at Norwood Hospital following a brief illness. She was the wife of Frank Abebe; they were married for 30 years.

Mrs. Routhier was born in Fall River, daughter of Virginia V. (Chase) Routhier of Westport and the late Robert R. Routhier.

She worked as a kindergarten teacher at the Garvin Memorial School in Cumberland, RI, and was passionate about working with students with special needs. She loved researching and learning to do things on her own and traveling all over the world, experiencing new cultures.

Survivors, along with her husband and mother, include her two sisters, Susan J. Sharpe of Dartmouth and Cynthia A. Olivier of Oak Bluffs; along with several nieces and nephews.

She was the sister of the late Janet M. McNulty.

Her memorial service, to which relatives and friends are invited, will be Saturday, March 11, at the Potter Funeral Home, 81 Reed Road, Westport, at 12:30 p.m.

Memorial visitation will be from 11-12:30 on Saturday at the funeral home, prior to the service. Interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Garvin Memorial School, 1364 Diamond Hill Rd., Cumberland, RI 02864.
