Sullivan to lead Selectmen; Morton chairs Budget Committee

Posted

Leaders of the Board of Selectmen swapped seats last week at the post-election reorganizational meeting.

R. Michael Sullivan rose from vice chairman to chairman, while Craig Dutra, the previous chairman, was elected vice chairman.

Also at Tuesday’s meeting, newly elected member Shana Shufelt was welcomed aboard. She defeated two-term incumbent Richard Spirlet.

Mr. Dutra praised Mr. Spirlet’s many contributions on the Board of Selectmen, on the Budget Subcommittee, Cable Committee, Capital Improvement Committee and in many other ways around town.

The elections also meant changes for the town’s Finance Committee, two of whose members have moved on — Chairwoman Shufelt to Selectmen, Vice Chairman Mark Carney to School Committee.

In their place, The Budget Committee elected former Chairman Hugh Morton back to the chairmanship, and chose Gary Carreiro as vice chairman.
