Vote yes for new Westport police station

Posted 7/15/16

To the editor:

I am writing to strongly encourage my fellow Westport citizens to support our outstanding police force with a functional, modern police station. On Tuesday, August 2, a special town vote will take place. There is absolutely no rational argument against the obvious need for a new police station. The only necessary discussion has been where to build it and how to fund it.

Vote yes for new Westport police station

To the editor:

I am writing to strongly encourage my fellow Westport citizens to support our outstanding police force with a functional, modern police station. On Tuesday, August 2, a special town vote will take place. There is absolutely no rational argument against the obvious need for a new police station. The only necessary discussion has been where to build it and how to fund it.

Now that  those issues have been worked out, it is our individual responsibility to get out and vote "Yes" for the new station. The cost is affordable and fair, and the benefits we will gain are immense.

I am a lifelong resident and have run a business in town for 42 years. On several occasions I have called upon the Westport Police for both business and personal reasons. Their conduct has always been professional and their performance exemplary.

In the last 10 years, they have continued to do fine work despite the deplorable condition of the station. We have supported our Fire Fighters and rightly so. Now, it is long overdue to support our police by giving them the updated tools to complete their tasks.

I urge everyone to pass the word through social media, at the local coffee shop, and throughout town by word of mouth. "Vote Yes on August 2nd and support our police!"
