Alexander F. Taber, Jr., Tiverton

Alexander F. "Sandy" Taber, Jr., of Tiverton, passed away Wednesday, August 8, 2018, with his best friend Kathy Duff by his side.  He was the husband of the late Shirley F. (Lawrence) Taber. 

Born in Fall River, son of the late Alexander F. Taber, Sr. and the late Anna F. (Carpenter) Taber, he was a lifelong resident of Tiverton.  Mr. Taber was the owner/operator of Fox Meadow Farm. His passion and love for his farm was passed down from his father Alexander Sr. He vigorously farmed until his passing. 

In addition to his best friend Kathy Duff and her family, he is survived by four sons, Alexander F. Taber III of Westport, Andrew J. Taber of Texas, Joshua J. Taber of Tiverton and James D. Taber of Attleboro; a brother, John Taber of Marion; seven grandchildren; a niece and a nephew. 

His funeral, to which relatives and friends are invited, will be Tuesday, Aug. 14, at the Potter Funeral Home, 81 Reed Rd., Westport, at 10 a.m. 

Calling hours Monday, 4-7 p.m. 

Interment in Pleasant View Cemetery, Tiverton.

A lifelong Portsmouth resident, Jim graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1982 and earned a journalism degree from the University of Rhode Island in 1986. He's worked two different stints at East Bay Newspapers, for a total of 18 years with the company so far. When not running all over town bringing you the news from Portsmouth, Jim listens to lots and lots and lots of music, watches obscure silent films from the '20s and usually has three books going at once. He also loves to cook crazy New Orleans dishes for his wife of 25 years, Michelle, and their two sons, Jake and Max.
