Daniel P. Sullivan, 75, of Westport, died Friday, February 15, 2019, at Sarah S. Brayton Nursing Care Center, Fall River.
"Cap'n" Dan was born in Fall River, son of the late F. W. and Mary (Knowe) Sullivan.
A lifelong resident of Westport, he served in the United States Army and was a member of the Vietnam Veterans Chapter 207 and the American Legion James Morris Post 145, both in Westport. He served as deputy shellfish warden, fish commissioner and town constable in the Town of Westport. Mr. Sullivan often donated his time and resources to helping others through organizations like Rose Hawthorne and St. Jude. Dan loved fishing on the Westport River.
Survivors include his son, Michael P. Sullivan of Westport; daughter, Laura A. Kegler and her husband Andy "The Kraut" of Ripon, Wisconsin; a sister, Patricia Hamel and her husband Robert of Connecticut; six grandchildren, Ryan, Sarah, Brennan, Laramie, Kaylyn and Cameron; and several nieces and nephews.
He was the brother of the late Elaine Tolan.
Memorial Mass, to which relatives and friends are invited, will be Saturday, March 9, at St. John the Baptist Church, Westport at 10 a.m.
Interment will be at Beech Grove Cemetery, Westport.
Calling hours are respectfully omitted.
