David Ponte, 70, Westport

David Ponte, 70, of Westport, loving husband of Nancy (Medeiros) Ponte, passed away unexpectedly in Naples, Florida. David was born in Westport, son to the late John S. and Alice (Forneiro) Ponte.

He was the owner and founder of Brougham Motors Collision Center in Fall River for the past 48 years.

Besides his wife of 52 years, he leaves his sons, David Ponte Jr. and his wife Sherilynn  of Westport, and Jesse and his wife Elsy of Florida; daughters, Tracey Ponte of Westport and Donna Hampton of Rhode Islan.; sisters, Pauline Souza of New York and Louise Melancon of Maine; seven grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. He was also the grandfather of the late Bethany Ponte and brother of the late John, George, Francis Ponte,  Alice Teixeira and Lorraine Manuel.

His funeral will be held on Friday, March 3, at 8:45 a.m. from the Silva-Faria Funeral Home, 730 Bedford St., Fall River, with his Mass in St. John of the Baptist Church in Westport at 10. Burial will be in St. Patrick Cemetery in Fall River. Calling hours will be held on Thursday 5:30-8:30 p.m. www.silvafaria.com
