Jeannette (Desmarais) Butler, 90, Westport

Jeannette (Desmarais) Butler, 90, of Westport, passed away on Sunday, Oct. 15, 2017, at Catholic Memorial Home. She was the wife of the late William Butler Jr.

Mrs. Butler was born in Westport, daughter of the late Alfred and Alphonsine (Mignault) Desmarais, and had been a lifelong resident of the town.

She and her late husband established Butler's Colonial Donut Shop in 1955, which they operated for over 25 years and still hold the business name and recipe. Mrs. Butler was an avid golfer and a member of the Montaup Country Club in Portsmouth. She was a communicant of Our Lady of Grace Church, Westport.

Survivors include her two daughters, Kathleen Santos and her husband Gerald of Westport, and Donna Carreiro and her husband Russell of Warren; a brother, Armand Desmarais of Somerset; two grandchildren, Gerald Santos Jr. and his wife Renay, and Andrea Santos; two great grandchildren, Gerald Santos, III and Luke Santos; along with many nieces and nephews.

She was the sister of the late Albert Desmarais, Elsie Laurendeau, Beatrice Berube and Doris Tracey.

Funeral Mass of Christian Burial, to which relatives and friends are invited, will be Tuesday, Oct. 17, at Our Lady of Grace Church, Westport at 10 a.m. Interment will be in Beech Grove Cemetery, Westport.

Calling hours are respectfully omitted.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Catholic Memorial Home, 2446 Highland Ave., Fall River, MA 02720.
