John C. (Junior) Silvia, 78, Westport

John C. (Junior) Silvia, age 78, of Westport, passed away on Wednesday, May 31, 2017, at home surrounded by his family. He was the husband of Theresa A. (Nicolau) Silvia. 

Born in Fall River, son of the late John Anthony Silvia and Dorothy (Matos) Silvia, he was a lifelong resident of Westport.

The owner of Silvia and Davis, Inc. in Fall River, he worked as a blacksmith and mechanic for over 50 years before retiring in 2011.  He was a communicant of Our Lady of Grace Church.

Throughout his life he enjoying snowmobiling, boating, RVing, and riding his motorcycle. He served in the National Guard, and was a former member of the Bristol County Snow Riders, the Road Knights Motorcycle Club and a lifelong member of the Family Motor Coach Association.  He looked forward to his gatherings with The Over the Hill Gang and socializing with his friends.  

He is survived by his wife, Theresa (Tessie) Silvia; son, Michael and his wife Lori; and granddaughter Tess of Westport; and daughter, Lisa Silvia of Westport and her fiancé Charles Leonard of New Bedford.

A Mass will be held in honor of his life. Burial is private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the South Coast VNA/Hospice.  Mass date and time to be posted on the Pocasset Funeral Home website.  www.almeida-pocasset.com
