Letter: After Comey firing, time again for ‘Winter Soldier'

Posted

To the editor:

Back in another day of a year far gone, a rag-tag bunch of Vietnam veterans and I formed a group called the Winter Soldier Investigation into US war crimes — testifying that Lt. William Calley's actions at My Lai were the tip of an iceberg. It was risky business, most of us being in uniform still. We chose the name "Winter Soldier" from those who stayed in Valley Forge that horrible winter of our Revolution, unlike the "Sunshine Patriots" who left for home.

In the aftermath of FBI Director Comey's demise, may we all be Winter Soldiers again, for as long as it takes, however deep the cold, in the name of our national honor and the love for our fellow human beings.
