Letter: Lights’ glare dims beauty of Adamsville night sky
To the editor:
Lately all the lights on the utility poles on Crandall Road in Adamsville have been re-lit. That's a lot of light pollution.
It was better when only two utility pole lights were on, one at Bramblewood Cross and one at the intersection of Crandall and Main. That's for public safety. And remember, the speed limit is 25 mph on Crandall Road in Adamsville.
In the deep valley here the night sky is particularly vivid — a great joy for me and for the stargazer in everyone.
Now when I get up in the night my house is no longer flooded by starlight and moonlight. Instead the halloween orange light on the utility pole nearest me overwhelms all natural light.
We must save energy to save our planet. Turning off powerful unnecessary lights is one way.
