Portsmouth Police seeks help in solving car breaks

Posted

PORTSMOUTH — The Portsmouth Police Department is looking for assistance in solving several recent car breaks that have occurred overnight.

Last week, patrol officers responded to the neighborhoods of Buckwheat Avenue, Stubtoe Lane, Water Street and Johnnycake Lane at separate, dates and times after residents reported seeing people in hooded sweatshirts on their property and either attempting or entering unlocked vehicles.

A photograph still from a surveillance video shows a suspect wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt, dark pants and “Vans-like” sneakers.

Loose change was reported stolen in one incident.

Residents are encouraged to secure their vehicles and contact the department (401/683-0300) if they witness any suspicious activity.
