Westport girls soccer beats Upper Cape, 2-0

Ashley Fay and Dakodah Hall lead the Westport girls soccer team past Upper Cape, each scoring a goal in the second half, for a 2-0 win during a home game on Friday afternoon. Fay scored on a free kick and Hall scored off a pass from Serena Aragao.

“It was a tale of two halves. The first half we were sluggish and slow our the first game of the season. The second half we came out and played the way that we are supposed to play. The other team had played three games this week and we came out and took advantage of their exhaustion in the second half,” said Westport head coach Gary Muello.

“Katie Cass played very well offensively and Ashley Fay also stood out. Fay took a lot of shots, which is what we want. The defense stepped up their game in the second half. They allowed only one shot on goal. We had a lot of hustle from a lot of players. It’s a great little start to the season, but we have a ways to go,” said coach Muello.
